Teak is characterized by its high strength, stability and vivid color, which elegantly changes from greens and oranges to reddish-brown tones during its lifetime. Historically, teak was widely used in the 1950s and 1960s to make some of the first Wegner Mix chairs. As needed, the use of tropical teak shifted from indoor to outdoor furniture due to its high durability. Carl Hansen & Søn's investment in the purchase of teak from its own sawmill in Vietnam has resulted in teak interior furniture now being available with FSC™ certification.
